How Many Catheters Can I Receive Through Minnesota Medicaid?

First, make sure you see your doctor. In order to be eligible, you will need a valid diagnosis and prescription. In addition, Minnesota Medicaid may require additional doctor’s notes to back up the diagnosis.

Depending on your diagnosis, prescription, and medical needs, be aware Medicaid of Minnesota will allow up to 180 catheters per calendar month. This is approximately enough to catheterize 6 times per day. However, this will depend on your doctor’s prescription.

If your doctor has prescribed more than 180 catheters per month, you may be able to receive more. However, this will require a process of pre-authorization.

If that sounds confusing, don’t worry. 180 Medical doesn’t just have catheter experts on staff. We also have insurance experts who understand catheter coverage inside and out. If you need some help understanding your Medicaid benefits or if you’re ready to find out which catheter will work best for you, give us a call.
