180 Medical Scholarship Winner Chelsea’s Story

By all accounts, Chelsea Holiday was a healthy and active child. However, as she grew, she began to have mobility difficulties. Progressively, she found it harder and harder to run, play, and keep up with her friends. Soon, even walking became a struggle. , she began to have difficulty with running, playing, and keeping up with her friends.

Her family took her to see multiple doctors. Finally, a doctor diagnosed a tumor growing at the base of Chelsea’s spine as well as a form of spina bifida. Chelsea had a lengthy surgery to remove the tumor. Afterward, she was told that walking would still be difficult. On top of that, there was always a chance the tumor could come back. However, Chelsea was undaunted. She was ready to get active again!

I believe that I can do anything as well as anyone else. I am a fighter, and whether I step onto a court, field, or classroom, I can achieve all of my goals.
